Redefining Community Impact
Our
Mission
Irie Community provides educational, cultural and social support for the purposes of enhancing unity for our charities and members in our communities. As a registered nonprofit organization, we are committed to serving the Greater Houston area by providing scholarships to college students, supporting local initiatives, and contributing volunteer hours and donations to area charities.
Who We Are
-
Our approach focuses on three key areas: building unity through shared cultural experiences, providing educational and essential support to our charities and communities, and creating opportunities for volunteers to serve with purpose and heart. By combining culture, service, and generosity, we work to strengthen communities both locally and internationally.
-
Strengthening communities through unity, generosity, and cultural pride. These aren't just words—they’re the foundation of everything we build.
-
Founded in 2002, Irie Community began as a small potluck where Jamaicans gathered to fellowship and celebrate their culture. The gathering grew into the annual Irie Community BBQ in Houston, Texas — an all-inclusive celebration of Caribbean food, music, sports, and family connection.
Led by passionate volunteers, Irie Community supports schools in Jamaica through its BBQ raffle while also serving communities throughout Greater Houston. To expand its impact, the organization hosts additional fundraising events, including the Irie Party on the Boat and the Irie Gala.
Today, Irie Community is powered by over 100 volunteers who have contributed more than $6,000 in donations and nearly 10,000 volunteer hours to charitable and cultural initiatives.
